John M Downey Clean has been cleaning rugs since 1897. We have studied the emergence and diversity of area rugs for decades and have developed cleaning systems that match the needs of the different rug styles.

We offer both on location and in-plant cleaning.

Some rugs – wool and silk hand-knotted Orientals, for instance, should always be cleaned in a rug cleaning facility.

Others - machine-made synthetic oriental design rugs, for instance, can usually be cleaned in your home if appropriate underlay and drying conditions are present.

Regardless of where the rugs are cleaned, sound cleaning fundamentals are employed to ensure a safe yet thorough cleaning.

These fundamentals include soil suspension, soil extraction, and drying.

Area Rug Underlayment for Safety and Comfort

Keep your area rugs safely in place, cushion them from premature wear and enhance their appearance and comfort with the proper underlayment. Whether your rugs are placed on a hard surface floor or over carpet we have the appropriate underlayment for you. We custom cut them to fit your rugs.
